Program Requirements

Please provide all prior academic transcripts; a current resume or c.v.; three letters of recommendation attesting to your qualifications, promise, and preparation for graduate study in the social sciences; a personal statement addressing why you seek to pursue a Ph.D. or M.S. in our program and area of research interest, and providing evidence of an ability to succeed in graduate-level quantitative methods courses; and a recent writing sample that demonstrates potential to succeed in a research-oriented degree. We accept very few students for part-time study, and only admit students for the fall semester.

Test Requirements

GRE General preferred, LSAT and/or GMAT accepted for PhD. No test requirement for the MS degree.

Personal Statement Instructions

Please discuss your motivation for pursuing a degree in Public Affairs/Community Development. Describe how your research agenda and civic interests fit with our department and faculty. Discuss your background and experience, and how this degree will benefit your future. If you are not providing separate documentation of your ability to succeed in graduate-level quantitative methods courses, please discuss your qualifications and quantitative reasoning skills here.
