Personal Statement Instructions

A personal statement of 800-1000 words is required describing your professional and academic background and your career objectives. Please explain why you want to attend the Toxicology program at Rutgers, what about the program attracts you, and specific areas you would like to study in the program.
If applicable, please describe any challenges, obstacles, or hardships you have encountered and how you have navigated or overcome them. These may include, but are not limited to, educational, socioeconomic, personal, cultural, health-related, or other life circumstances that have shaped your academic and professional journey. Please discuss in an additional 500 words or less:
• How these experiences have influenced your motivation to pursue graduate study.
• The strategies, resources, or support systems you used to overcome barriers.
• Lessons learned or perspectives gained that will contribute to your success and resilience as a graduate student.
