Program Requirements

Writing sample should be maximum 30 pages of fiction (short stories or novel excerpt) or nonfiction (personal essay, memoir, or book excerpt), or 15 pages of poetry. Three letters of reference, resume, personal statement, and writing sample required for all applicants. Test Requirements

Rutgers University-Newark accepts the Duolingo English Test. The Duolingo English Test is an online English language proficiency test that can be taken via a camera-enabled computer. When you receive your results, you can share your scores with Rutgers-Newark. The minimum Duolingo score is 130.
